Abstract

The article provides current data on the metallogeny of gold in the western part of the Altai-Sayan metallogenic province (southern Siberia), one of the oldest mining regions of Russia. The need in generalization of numerous geological, geophysical, geochemical and metallogenic data, forecast and revelation for new types of overlapping gold mineralization is relevant. The scheme of metallogenic zoning is given. Metallogenic subprovinces and zones are identified, and their geological structure and metallogenic specialization is described. The distribution patterns of various types of gold and gold-bearing mineralization are featured. The features of gold mineralization being mainly determined by the peculiarities of the Cambrian and Devonian ore-containing volcanogenic-sedimentary rocks and granitoid complexes formation has been revealed. Basing on the analysis of previously known and newly obtained isotope-geochronological data (U-Pb SHRIMP-II, Ar-Ar), the main stages of gold mineralization formation are highlighted. The conclusions about the searching prospects for various types of gold and gold-bearing mineralization are produced.
