GEOLOGICAL MAPPING OF KOSOVA-ALBANIA BORDER LINE - SHEET K-34-78-A SHISHTAVEC
Abstract
This paper presents correlations of a porti on of bordering zone Kosova – Albania, in other words sheet K-34-78-A - Shishtavec. Sheet of the three neighbouring countries boarders Kosova –Macedonia – Albania and covers the are of roughly 387 km 2. Out of this area, 148 km2 or 38 % lay in Albania territory, more precisely in the surrounding of Kukës and Dibra towns. Othe r part, however, roughly 239 km 2 or 62 % lay in Kosova territory, Dragash Municipality (Sharr Mountain area). Geological map of each of these place, was produced by local experts, irrespective of country of origin, even thought their territory is basically unique and so is their geology. Owing to geological correlation, it was manage d to achieve geological continuation in bordering zone maps. This paper describes content of geological formations in both sides of the boarder, by harmonising their age and by presenting research ’s results based on various tests ran in both local and French laboratories. When elaborating this matter, starting from inception phase of matching or comparing both inter-boarder maps and boards (sheets) with bordering zone Albania and Kosova, be sides notable consistency and correlations in terms of formations and age, there were some discrepancies as well. These discrepancies are related to: various period s of their implementation, various details study case scale, complexity of elaborates done etc. In the end of this elaborate, there is geological map of 1: 50 000 scales with correlations judged as most appropriate for the limited territory. Within this elaborate, and in order to serve its objective, there are some ge ological boarder correlations. The archived objectives are elaborated bellow.
