Abstract

In Romania the estimation of the qualitative and quantitative status for the groundwater bodies was maded for each delineated groundwater body. The monitoring and knowledge activity of the groundwater bodies are made on the river basins through the observation wells for the shallow and depth groundwaters. The majority of these wells belong to the National Hydrogeological Network, but for the polluted areas there are local monitoring networks. The BuzДѓu-IalomiЕЈa river basin is one of the eleven Water Directions from Romania and is situated in the south-eastern part of our country. In 2007 it has begun the new monitoring programme according to the Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC and European Monitoring Guide. Our paper is based on the results processing and interpretations of the chemical analyses obtained in the 2007 by the monitoring programmes which were applied on each groundwater body delineated in the BuzДѓu-IalomiЕЈa river basin and the comparing of these values with the threshold values obtained for the each groundwater bodies. On the basis of the natural background level the thereshold values were established and were subsequently compared with the standard or reference values comprised in the Romanian Legislation. The results of our estimation from the BuzДѓu- Ialomita river basin indicate that three groundwater bodies are in bad status from qualitative point of view.
