THE FOUNDATION ENGINEERING AND EVALUATION OF BUILDINGS ON VARIOUS GEOLOGICAL BEDROCKS FOR USE OF BROWNFIELDS
Abstract
The foundation of buildings is one of the basic tools of a landscape design. In the interests of today's society is to use abandoned areas, buildings, industrial sites also known as brownfields are used for re-use and to prevent the creation of new territories, for the purpose of foundation engineering. In these cases, it is important to know not only the overall character of the solution site but also the geological subsoil, which significantly influences the proposed building - technical solution. For this reason, it is necessary to implement the acquired knowledge from the foundation engineering into the issue of revitalization or reclamation of these already existing objects. The five problematic surroundings in which the buildings were based and evaluated. These are anthropogenic landfills, limestone layers, gravel, areas affected by landslides as well as areas subjected to tunnel excavation in various rock substrate are to be found. The individual geological environs were evaluated separately and the problems were not only pointed at but, they may encounter during foundation engineering but also to possible solution. The aim of this issue is to provide practical information and possibilities regarding the geological environs under the consideration in connection with the fact that geological or geotechnical surveys will be carried out in these areas in order to build a site for the possibility of re-utilization of brownfields for the restoration of production and non-productive landscape functions.
