Abstract

Robotics is expanding into a number of new application domains and it offers new opportunities to study human-robot augmentation (human-bionic system), advanced autonomy and user interfaces, and in addition the integration of communities of “simple” robots opens new opportunities in terms of task achievement and flexibility. The EURON network has been successful in the coordination of (relatively) diverse national programs. With the introduction of a European program focused on robotics (the “Beyond Robotics” program) there were a possibility for European integration in robotics and for Coordination across the sponsored integrated projects in robotics. The network will also assists in dissemination, community efforts, and industrial transfer.
