Abstract

The article deals with brownfields which orig inated as a secondary result of different character of restructuring land used in the past in any EU country and time often accompanied by extreme burden on the individual components of the environment. Removal of the resulting environmental burden would contribute not only to improvement of the environment but also to further socio-economic development of the region in which the brownfield is located including primary, secondary and tertiary sectors of business environment. Addressing brownfields re-use in the EU determines the set of multilateral aspects, which is mainly based on the level of economic development and particularly the regulatory environment of the country, which is in the field of addressing brownfields inconsistent and therefore represents primary barrier to their re-use in the EU area.
