DISCREPANCY ON GEOLOGY DESCRIPTION BETWEEN MAP SHEETS K34-53 \& K34-54 1:100 000
Abstract
For all territory of Kosova during 1966 – 1982 were compiled geological map sheets at scale 1:100 000 and description texts. During 2005 – 2006 ICMM had projects on compiling Geological map at scale 1:200 000 and digitalization of geological map sheets at scale 1:100 000. Projects were realized by Beak Consultants GmbH and in close corporation with geology staff of ICMM. During map digitalization were observed some discrepancies between some map sheets. In order to verify exacts description, during 2005 were organized many field trips in borders between map sheets. One of the cases of the discrepancies is between map sheets of Peja K34-53 \& RAHOVEC K34-54 SCALE 1:100 000. The aim of field trip was to verify the border differences between description at Peja K34-54 as a upper Jurassic flysch formation, whereas on map sheet K34-53 flysch of Kimmeridgian - Tithonian authors attribute an age of the Upper Cretaceous. By the geological construction, tectonic position and other visual analogies were concluded that the geological settings have to be presented as on map sheet K34-54 as a Jurassic flysch formation. During 2008 in ICMM were compiled two geological map sheets K-34-54-C-a Kromavik and K-34-54-A-c Volljak at scale 1:25 000, By Micro paleontological specialized studies, for the first time was dating of the formation of Radiolarite of \cCupeva as the Upper Jurassic (Oksfordian - Kimerixhian) and formation of Volljakut flysch as the Upper Jurassic (Kimerixhian - Titonian) and dated different levels of carbonate Gremnik formations of Cretaceous age. As a conclusion flysch formations of map sheet K34-53 presented as Upper Cretaceous is verified to be of Kimmeridgian - Tithonian Jurassic age.
