Abstract

Oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.), a crop with great economic value, is grown for oil-rich seeds and after soybean is the second most common oil crop. According to literature, oilseed rape has a great demand for sulphur and boron, mainly for synthesis of glucosinolates and sulphur aminoacids. The present research was developed during agricultural year 2017-2018 in Ialomita County using Jumper rapeseed hybrid. The objective of the study was to evaluate the influence of mineral fertilization combined with boron and sulphur on rapeseed yield, average height of plant at harvest time, number of lateral branches per plant, number of siliques per plant and on seeds number per silique. Fertilization scheme is composed from six variants, as it follows: control (V1), NPK 15:30:0 (V2), NPK 15:30:0 + CAN (V3), NPK 15:30:0 + F1 + CAN (V4), NPK 15:30:0 + F1 + CAN + F2 (V5), NPK 15:30:0 + F1 + CAN + F2 + F3 (V6), where CAN is calcium ammonium nitrate and F1, F2 and F3 are commercial products with 9,2% B, 15% SO3 and 15% B, respectively. The highest yield (3580 kg/ha) was recorded for V6 which is with 1730 kg higher than V1. Results indicated that for V5 and V6 the average height of plant at harvest time, number of lateral branches per plant, number of siliques per plant were equal and highest from all investigated variants. The research evidenced that all investigated parameters increased with fertilization, the best results being observed for V5 and V6 variants. This study highlights the importance of NPK fertilization generally and of boron and sulphur especially, to obtain high yields for rapeseed culture.
