Abstract

The main aim of study is to propose a method to diminish the negative effects of the drip irrigation in dens soil layer (Also called: plowpan, plow sole or tillage pan) on the vegetables growing in high plastic tunnels established on the Cambic Chernozems with fine texture from north ? east of Romania. In gardening in almost all cases the water in soil provided from irrigation, especially by drip irrigation. In this condition, the soil horizon located immediately below the ploughed layer is compacted over time. The highly compacted soil developed as a consequence of excessive ploughing forms a barrier to the root penetration and the water infiltration, also. In vertical water moving the compacted layer prevents the downward advancing of the moisture front and favors water stagnation in the sinuosity of the bottom part of manually grounded layer due to the different compaction of the two layers. The main aspects of physical barrier is widely discussed in full paper where we evaluated the effects of the drip irrigation on physic soil moistening pattern which greatly influences vegetable growing. The studies included both aspects of research, field work and laboratory phase, in order to development a method to diminish restrictions of vegetable growing. In the field, we studied morphological soil profiles from poly-tunnels and in the lab, we determined some properties of Cambic Chernozems soil, such as bulk density (on undisturbed soil samples), total soil organic matter, the calcium carbonate, pH value etc. Based on the laboratory and field data we highlighted that the frequent alternations of the wetting and drying processes favor a closed packing of soil aggregates. The improvement of the soil properties could be realized by deep loosening works without reversal soil horizons.
