TESTING COOLING EFFICIENCY OF THE LOOP HEAT PIPE AT VARIOUS TEMPERATURE CONDITIONS
Abstract
Loop heat pipe is ingenious cooling device to remove waste heat from power electronic elements used in the specific applications e. g. where does not require forced cooling and where is not space for placement a big air cooler. Loop heat pipe transfer heat through the phase change of the working medium circulating in closed loop of the loop heat pipe. Ingenious of this device is in the heat transport without using any moving elements and gravity field. This work deal with experimental evaluation of cooling efficiency loop heat pipe capable transfer high heat fluxes from electric elements to the surrounding. The work contains description of loop heat pipe, working principle of loop heat pipe, construction of loop heat pipe. Experimental part describes the method to cooling efficiency determination of loop heat pipe depending on heat load and at various temperature conditions in the thermostatic chamber. Cooling efficiency of lop heat pipe was testing at conditions of heat load in range from 40 to 160 W and ambient temperature in range from 5 to 40 °C. The results are presented in the graphs temperature dependence on the heat load of the electronic components placed on the loop heat pipe evaporator.
