ADAPTIVE CONCEPTUAL DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR THE EXPLOITATION AND SECURITY OF MINERAL RESOURCES
Abstract
Starting in 1992, the Romanian mining industry underwent a restructuring process, which involved the closure of a significant number of mining perimeters. Without conducting a critical analysis of the causes that led to this extensive action and its resulting effects, it can be considered that some mining units, whose minimum geological reserves ensure exploitation for at least 10 years, could have real prospects for promoting solutions that guarantee economic efficiency, at least at the national level. In support of this position, the following presents a decision analysis that may lead to a reconsideration of the strategy for reducing mining activities. The mobility of jobs in the underground exploitation of coal seams determines a specific overall activity dynamic and, at the same time, accumulates operational risks for both the deposit and the workforce. In order to ensure complete control over the knowledge of the evolution of the mineral resources exploitation method under global crisis conditions, which have inevitably influenced the socio-economic environment of areas with this potential, a mathematical model for assessing security risk in the field of mineral resources has been developed, as presented in this paper. This model forms the basis for creating a forecast to establish the probability of exceeding the loss indicator, with technical and economic consequences, within a certain period of time.
