Abstract

Kosovo has a very interesting nature and geology, which lies between the old range- mountains of Rhodopes and new ranges of Dinarides. Peja region belongs to the western part of Kosovo, covers an area of 1 831 km2 or 16.8% of the territory of R. Kosova. In geological construction of Peja region take part these lithological formations, ranging from Precambrian until the Quaternary. Taking into account the economic development of the region of Peja in general and requirements arising from this development, we can say that na tural resources in particular those geological represent a good basis for development of this region. In this paper will be present the identifiable poten tial geo-mining areas for researches and exploitations. This region is rich in metallic minerals; non-metallic minerals and energetic minerals such: chrome, sand, gravel, quartz sand, va rious types of solid rocks, dimension stones, clay, talc, bauxite, coal etc. The paper presents a thorough assessment of the resources and their quality as a contribution to sustainable economic development.
