Abstract

The paper deals with the determination of accuracy and precision of distance measurement on the reflective foil, which is rotated under different angles to the sight line of the device. The problem with the rotation of reflective foil appears especially on large construction sites, where improper rotation complicate determination of temporary stations and setting-out of given points. At the Department of Special Geodesy Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague was proposed testing procedure to find limits of rotation of reflective foil. It was tested five total stations Leica with different distance meters. For test were chosen two reflective foils, one from Leica and one unbranded. Distance meters were tested at a distance of 30 m and 100 m in an outdoor environment, which corresponds to the normal distances on construction site. All devices were tested in the same way. The reflective foil was rotated in horizontal and vertical directions with step 20 gon. The test results are the standard deviation of the measured distances, mutual comparison of distances and variance of measurements. The results in most cases show that rotation till 40 gon doesnпїЅt affect measured distance. Generally, the resulting standard deviation is not dependent on the rotation of reflective foil. The test results show the limits of measurement accuracy, and may serve for a better planning of placing reflective foil in geodetic network.
