Abstract

The article presents dangerous meteorological phenomena which occurred at Rzesz?w-Jasionka Airport. It investigates hazards caused by dangerous meteorological phenomena for conducting take-off and landing operations. During this study, the approach landing systems were considered. Rzesz?w-Jesionka airport is an airports with a large number of flying days. It can be said that there are climatic conditions conducive to a safe performance of air operations. Meteorological data from the period of 2000-2016 were taken into account in the analysis of the climatic conditions. The following were analyzed: air temperature, wind speed, atmospheric precipitation (rain, snow, freezing drizzle, freezing rain, hail), frequencies of storms, fogs and visibility. The selected elements were analyzed in the aspect of annual and multiannual changes. The linear trend method was used to assess the time changes. The analysis of the linear trend showed that in the analyzed years, for example, the average annual air temperature was characterized by a tendency to increase by 0.0564В°C per year. In 2010-2016, the air temperature increased by 0.96В°C. The linear trend indicator also confirms the rise in the warmest and coolest months. In the case of other meteorological elements, there was also a tendency of their growth. The meteorological elements which exerted an impact on the safe performance of air operations were also analyzed. The authors considered the frequency of the occurrence of dangerous meteorological conditions compared to other airports in Poland. It was found that there are fewer fogs here, Although, on the other hand, more frequently there occur: a freezing rainfall, a freezing drizzle precipitation and storms with a hail fall. It was also examined whether the prevailing climatic conditions require raising the category of approach systems for landing. It was found that raising the ILS (Instrumental Landing System) category is justified for both security and economic reasons.
