Abstract

The purpose of this research was to identify greenhouse gases emission sources, and to estimate their emission generated in the life cycle of the fuel that was obtained from biomass wastes in the mechanocatalytic depolymerization process. Calculations were conducted upon the basis of the criteria of ISO standards, covering the full life cycle of the product, that is, from agricultural/forestry feedstock sourcing up to fuel combustion in an automotive engine. Summarizing the results, it may be stated that the technology uses a mechanocatalytic depolymerization allows to store energy from renewable sources such as solar or wind in the form of an ecological fuel. This fuel has properties similar to fuels that are derived from crude oil in terms of their quality parameters, therefore it is possible of using it in already-operating cars. That makes it possible to develop it without the necessity of building new cars and new distribution infrastructures; thus, its implementation will not result in incurring environmental construction-related costs.
