Abstract

The Makran coast of Iran is exposed to the long waves generated in the Indian Ocean. The coast experienced huge waves induced by tsunami and cyclone during the past decades. Using the impact of the past events we present potential inundation areas for the great waves on the Makran coast. Based on the value of long wave height, three flood zones are specified on the inundation map. The first zone associated with no considerable inundation on uplifted rocky shore, the second zone would experience up to a few kilometers inundation on the coast of Chabahar and Jask areas. Areas of sandy beaches that supported by high cliffs fall between two extreme regions.
