PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT THROUGH ECO LABELLED PRODUCTS, STUDY CASE FOR SOME CONSUMER PRODUCTS
Abstract
The paper aim was to analyze the awareness of eco-labelling on the market, the need for information on the subject and also the type of date which may be considered to be included in the contented. In order to analyze the promotion degree of sustainable development through eco-labelled products, three case studies were analyzed: detergents, household appliances and textiles consumption. Considering that eco-labelled products have a low environmental impact throughout their lifetime, a long utilisation would implicitly lead to sustainable development. This aspect is important to be analyzed both from product and consumer point of view. For this case study have been applied 90 questioners in Arad town. The respondents selected were from all social classes, male and female and with different study levels. The need for this study was determined by the low level of information on the subject. The eco-labelled products are necessary but not enough to highlight a bio product and to and to increase consumer confidence. For example the household appliances with an eco label are less harmful with the environment having recyclable elements. Inclusion of an adequate set of information on the eco-label could contribute to increase the level of shopping education regarding the ecological products and their distinctive identification elements.
