Abstract

In recent years, due to advances in science and technology, environmental issues have been rising, constantly requiring additional attention. Fumes, waste water, air pollution are just some of many problems the society’s dealing with today. We are now in position to use the same technology, that threatens to destroy basic environmental resources necessary for living, for monitoring environmental parameters’ conditions and avoiding further pollution. Visualization of real time data and on-time data delivery are of vital importance in creation of efficient monitoring systems. This paper deals with visualizing sensors’ measurements on a WebGIS application within a monitoring system and emphasizes the importance of visualization in critical situations. It presents the GINISSENSE architecture, based on sensor networks and Sensor Web concept, for collecting, processing and visualizing sensor data.
