ASSESSMENT OF THE ROADS TECHNICAL CONDITION BASED ON PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

Abstract

The paper deals with general aspects concerning the assessment of the roads technical condition based on the calculation of individual, combined and general performance indicators. Besides general aspects, the paper also presents a case study concerning the assessment of the technical condition on the national road section DN 18 Baia Mare ? Sighetu Marma?iei, Section E, km 52+000?km 62+000. The assessment of the technical condition on the analyzed road section was realized according to the COST 354 action of the European Commission for Cooperation in the Technical Scientific field for Transports: ?Performance Indicators for Road Pavements?. The purpose of the action is to make an analysis of the essential requirements to be met, and to determine, based on the values of the performance indicators, the best intervention modality to correct and improve the technical condition of the road section.
