THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL MODEL OF THE COMBUSTION PROCESS IN A LAYER ON THE GRATE OF THE WASTE THERMAL TREATMENT INSTALLATION
Abstract
The main aim of the work is to determine the distribution of waste mass in the process of mechanical transport on sliding, reciprocating and cylindrical grates. The mass distribution in a layer on the grate is caused by the loss of the waste material during combustion. The work uses the formulas from the literature describing the mass transport of waste on the grate. The scope of the work did not include experimental investigations of waste incineration in a layer on a grate, on a laboratory scale. The results of these tests were used in this work to develop a theoretical and experimental model of waste incineration. The model consists of two parts: mechanical and energy. The mechanical part includes the issues of mechanical transport of waste on the grate and loss of mass of waste along the grate. On the other hand, the energy part focuses on energy balances in the cross-sections of the layer, as well as the relative loss of mass in individual stages of the cascade. The model is used as a tool supporting the design of new grates as well as optimizing the work of existing ones in a waste incineration plant.
