MODIFICATION OF PROCEDURES FOR GENERATION OF CONTOUR DESCRIPTION FROM DIGITAL GRAPHIC IMAGES

Abstract

The comparison of different types of line and boundary detectors is made. The appropriate modifications of procedures for processing of grey level or binary images are analysed. The accuracy and quality of contours generated from images with different resolution are estimated. Different procedures for line following and contour interpolation for structural description of vector information obtained from digital images are compared. The properties of these procedures are encountered and the criteria for choice of the appropriate procedure are formulated. The suggested approaches and procedures are suitable for implementation in the software packages for digital processing of graphic and text images. The final result is presentation of data in vector form. Such procedure is suitable for automatic generation of information that is utilised in computer aided design systems.
