EXPERIENCES WITH CUPOLA SLAG USING BY CONCRETE PRODUCTION
Abstract
Slag are by-products by metallurgical processes. The most famous slag are blast furnace slag and steel slag. Their treatment and using are known and their using is very extensive. Cupola slag formats by cast- iron production in cupola furnace. In some countries it is used by roadway building but in Slovakia it is waste only. In some European countries it is granulated and granulation product is used in building industry. Cupola slag is after tipping from cupola furnace casted in to slag dip and put in to waste depot. Cupola slag properties are similar with blast furnace properties and it was reason why cupola slag was used as a replacement of blast furnace slag by concrete production. During experiments the cupola slag was grinded and milled. It was tested concrete making from 100\% of cupola slag with three different fractions of 0 – 4 mm, 4 – 8 mm and more then 8 mm and concrete production with combination of blast furnace and cupola slag (0 – 4 mm). The last series of experiments were realized with slag after stabilization.
