Abstract

The work is devoted to the new calibration method for vector geomagnetometer in the visualized coordinate system, which is connected with the body of the instrument. Standard navigation aids allows to transform geomagentic vector in the visualized coordinate system to the global coordinate system. It can be used for linking the received magnetograms to the coordinates on the terrain. The method allows to take into account the non-orthogonality of sensitive axes, difference of sensitivity and offset of magnetic field transducers. A feature of the method is using of a three-component accelerometer and minimization of the scalar product between vectors of the geomagnetic field and the free fall acceleration. The proposed method was tested in real-life and laboratory conditions on the Hall vector magnetometer. The relative error of the measuring components of the magnetic field vector in the experiments was less than 0.5%. An exact comparison of the geomagnetic field vector in the global coordinate system can be used to magnetic mapping with a large number of identical magnetometers in the problems of geological minerals exploration, flaw detection of pipelines and orientation by the physical fields of the Earth.
