DIVERSITY AND COMPETITIVENESS OF PRODUCTS IN LATVIAN FISHERIES INDUSTRY

Abstract

In the development of Latvia?s economy fisheries industry has always played a significant role, especially in development of the Baltic Sea and Riga Gulf coastline area. The fisheries industry has not only a long-standing history and traditions, but also an internal development potential and the ability to produce competitive products in the world market. The aim of the research is to reflect the diversity and competitiveness of the product in the Latvian fisheries industry. On the grounds of the methodology offered by the author and guiding by the available data and their quality, the author analyzed the product developed by the Latvian fisheries industry. The results of the research find out the diversity and quality of the product of Latvian fisheries industry. The information included in the research can assist the institutions, entrepreneurs and researchers involved in establishment of fisheries policy to better understand the importance of diversity and quality of the product in ensuring the competitiveness and growth of Latvian fisheries industry.
