Abstract

Our paper presents the newest results of bathymetric measurements and underwater objects investigation on the fragment of Narew river between Granary and Modlin Fortress. The historical fortress and the Granary founded by the Polish Bank are both well-known historical places in Poland. Archaeologists and historians are still analyzing the history of these buildings. The main objective of the work was to elaborate a bathymetric map and a database of underwater objects. The necessary data for elaborations was collected during the measurement campaign in April 2016. The hydro-acoustic survey was done by using Integrated Bathymetric System. During the survey two basic systems were correlated: bottom detection system and positioning system. The first is a single-beam echo sounder and the second one is a DGNSS positioning system. Additionally side scan sonar was used. In the paper a short history of research objects and the Integrated Bathymetric System ware described. The study also describes the measurement technology, raw data elaboration and creation of digital bottom elevation model. Then the process of map realization of underwater objects in the Narew river and two and three dimensional models of river bottom are presented. The new elaborated map can be used by archeologists to investigate and finally get out the underwater objects. These things are a very important basics to explore history of the unique Granary and the Modlin Fortress. The created database includes an echogram preview for each underwater object, description of the element, depth and height of target above the bottom. The research has been done with cooperation with the archaeologists from the University of Warsaw.
