Abstract

The vast territory of Bince region is loca ted in the Viti locality in the SW part of Kosovo, in between Kacaniku Gorge, Morava of Bince Valley and Zhegra Valley. It is characterized by a broad variety of lithology and numerous mineral showings of Cu, Pb, Zn and Fe. Geological setting: Paleozoic shale (Sbm), with marble and quartzite (M, Q), the series of Upper Cretaceous (Cr 2) flysch, Lower Oligocene (Ol 2) volcanogenic-sedimentary series, middle Miocene (M2) sediments, as well as by relatively widespread depositions of Quaternary (J, al, dpr). Geophysical survey: Electrical Prospecting with Induced Polarization (IP) and Resistivity survey with gradient array of spacing AB=800m and MN=25m which provided a depth of exploration down to 120m. Initially three lines of Time Domain IP/Resistivity surv ey were carried out with Transmit time (T) = Receive time (t) = 2 sec and three observed windows in the decay curve. The referring values belong to the middle window (M 2). The transmitter IPC- 8/250W injected into the ground through the cu rrent electrodes AB the currents varying between 400 mA and 1,200 mA which provided a good signal to noise ratio of the primary and secondary voltage. An interesting anomaly was obtained by the IP /Resistivity survey in this experiment. The main anomaly was followed up by IP/Res istivity “Real Sectio n” technique which basically employs a gr adient survey with multiple sp acing and plotting of the observed data at depth in a proprietary way. The interpretation of the anomaly indicates the presence of polymetallic mineralization that remains open at depth below 120 m. The experimental work with IP/Resistivity survey and follow up by “Real Section” technique proved to be effective in search fo r polymetallic mineralization in this region and in analogue geological situations in Eastern Kosovo.
