ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTANTS FROM MINING AND THERMOENERGYTICAL SYSTEM IN KOSOVA
Abstract
Kosova is a country rich in coal, mainly lignite type and regarding to the reserves, it is ranked in the fifth place in the world. Estimated resources of lignite are average 12.7miliard tones, which are distributed in three main basins (Kosova, Dukagjin and Drenica). Approximately 50\% of entire country natural resources constitutes this type of coal. Thermo energetically installed power is 1478 MW , and lignite supply is from open pits, Mirash and Bardhosh with the use of lignite capacity of 16 million tones per year. Approximately 97\% of power supply is produced by burning lignit provided. Thermo energy is very important issue in development plans, and that conditions the economic and industrial development of a country. This mining and thermo energetically complex represents a source of pollution: soil, air, surface water and groundwater. Taking into consideration that this system is located at the Kosova plain, in the cultivable land, then the impact of harmful components in the environment is even greater and more lasting effect in the food production process, in micro and macro clime, etc. Access to pollution analysis and solution options (to minimize problem) for the environmental problem are the target of this paper. For an complex pollutant as this system is, a monitoring system of air, soil and water pollution should be built as soon as possible. The element for forming defined information system for environmental protection which will ensure the execution of systematic tracking character timely information on the environmental situation. Looking forward for the new solutions, it is strongly recommended formation of the Geographic System Information (GIS).
