Abstract

The paper deals with the removal of chromium from aqueous solutions based on the process of biosorption. The select ed biosorbent is the fungus of Fomitopsis pinicola . The laboratory experiments study the kinetics of the biosorption process, the effects of grain-size, activating agents, length of th e activation process and physical conditions which play an important role in the process optimization. Among the factors that influence biosorption there are, particularly, the pH value, temperature, number of revolutions, etc. Next, attention is paid to the description of isotherms on the basis of a Freundlich and Langmuir’s model.
