Abstract

The circular economy represents a real opportunity to support the sustainable development of rural communities by promoting efficient resource use, waste reduction, and the creation of resilient local economic chains. The generation of new jobs and, consequently, economic development, the reduction of waste quantities and the sustainable valorization of local resources, the promotion of ecological agriculture and bioeconomy, the development and promotion of sustainable forms of tourism, and the reduction of pollution levels through the encouragement of a sustainable lifestyle are just a few reasons that support the idea that the circular economy is a defining element in the sustainable development of rural areas. The research methodology used in this study integrates both quantitative and qualitative methods. A statistical and econometric analysis was conducted to assess the correlation between circular economy practices and sustainable development indicators, as well as their impact on the quality of life of rural residents. Implementing circular economic principles in rural areas represents a viable strategy for achieving sustainable development goals. Investments in infrastructure, education, and innovative technologies are essential for consolidating a functional and sustainable circular economy. In conclusion, the circular economy plays an essential role in promoting the sustainable development of rural communities by offering innovative solutions for efficient resource utilization, waste reduction, and the stimulation of local economic activities. The adoption of circular economy principles significantly contributes to improving quality of life, fostering economic resilience, and ensuring environmental sustainability in rural areas.
