POSSIBLE EFFECT OF INSTALLATION OF DE-EMULSIFICATION PROCESS FOR OIL WASTEWATER TREATMENT ON PUBLIC HEALTH
Abstract
The evaluated intent of investment represents the increase of existing level of technological equipment in interested WWTP (wastewater treatment plant) so that it will handle also wastewater with high content of NEL (non-polar substances), especially of oil emulsions. The investment will be situated in the present manipulation space, which is in the interested WWTP available for possible development purposes and process intensification. Investment intent will allow better cleaning of wastewater with such a high content of oily substances, that is not yet possible to clean in evaluated WWTP. Realization of the project will also allow easier management of technologically emergent situation during the treatment, mainly sudden increase concentration of NEL substances in the raw waste water and will significantly contribute to stabilization of technological operation during the whole treatment process. The risk of noise imissions representing physical pollutants (physical noxa) and chemical pollution of the atmosphere have been assessed. Exposure to noise was assessed as whole-body exposure caused by future technological operation in de-emulsification and related traffic during both day and night time. As the exposure route of chemical pollutants into the exposed organism was considered only the inhalation of particulate matter and gaseous pollutants caused by future technological operation in de-emulsification and related traffic. The paper elaborates and compares two variants of potentional health risks. For the future situation after the realization of the project is expected certain increase the existing impacts that current operation of the WWTP affect to the environment. On the basis of the potential health risk of the most significant pollutants evaluation is based and supported by practical data. Expected degree of health risk for surrounding residents in final situation is compared to existing effects of present operation of the WWTP and expected changes are evaluated.
