ANALYSIS OF IMPACT OF OHS TRAINING QUALITY ON KNOWLEDGE OF WORKERS IN MINING COMPANIES IN THE FIELD OF OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY
Abstract
Working in mining companies, which extract coal, is very difficult and dangerous. Miners carry out activities in a hostile environmental in which there are many natural and technical dangers. The accumulation of such unfavorable factors makes it necessary to take actions to appropriately prepare the workers to work in these conditions. These actions mainly include different kinds of trainings before and during the work. One of the goals of these trainings is to make the workers get to know the threats that occur in the mine. It is also very important to teach them how to prevent the critical events as well as how to behave if these events occur. The paper presents the results of a survey and interviews with experts aimed at evaluating the quality of the OHS trainings that are carried out in the coal mine. The main goal of the research was to determine the impact of the quality of the OHS trainings on the awareness and knowledge of the workers in the range of dangers that occur and the way to prevent the hazardous events. Some of the questions referred to knowledge of the workers regarding what to do when an accident happens. The results clearly showed that the manner and the form of the trainings play a big role in the workersпїЅ awareness. The efficiency of the trainings and knowledge gained by the workers depends on the quality of these trainings. The presented issue has an essential practical meaning. In the mining sector, there are many, even fatal, accidents. An appropriate quality of the OHS trainings can positively influence this situation.
