MODERN TRENDS IN ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS
Abstract
Environmental economics is a sub-field of economics that is associated with environmental issues. It has become a widely studied topic in connection with a growing concern for the environment in the twenty first century. Quoting from the National Bureau of Economic Research Environmental Economics Program: Environmental Economics ... conducts theoretical and empirical studies of the economic effects of national or local environmental policies around the world. The development of socio-economic, political and scientific-technical priorities of the state should be based on the principles of environmental balance and environmental protection. However, economic stability should not be achieved at the expense of environmental safety. Therefore, the relevance of the study is due to the fact that without the correct construction and use of economic instruments of environmental regulation, it is impossible to ensure environmental protection of the state. As a special section of economic science, environmental economics includes: ? ?he theory of economic assessment of natural resources, environmental measures and damage caused as a result of nature management, including environmental pollution; ? methodology of environmental and economic analysis and assessment of rational nature management; ? justification of the system of economic responsibility, taxation and compensation rates for damage caused as a result of nature management. Specific issues include the costs and benefits of alternative environmental policies for combating air, water, toxic substances, solid waste, and global warming. It must be understood that when determining the economic optimum for environmental pollution, only economic factors are taken into account. In fact, social preferences and purely environmental factors matter.
