ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS OF PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS UTILIZATION

Abstract

Nor green business, however, designed precisely to reduce the amount of waste that modern society and its technologies generate, is not entirely trouble-free in relation to waste. This problem also applies to photovo ltaic. The issue of life cycle and the final disposal of modules and materials is more or less long a major role for industry. Total amount of photovoltaic waste in Europe is still relatively small and moves around 3800 tons in 2020, this number will grow to 35 000 tones. Sooner or later it will be necessary to address this issue in Slovakia also. Most manufacturers of photovoltaic products in Europe are in Germany where he is also the largest photovoltaic market. No wonder that Germany will be the first European count ry where large volumes of photovoltaic modules are approaching the end of its opera tional life and its removal and disposal is becoming a major problem. Logic suggest that Germany will be one of the first countries where will be developed specia lized equipment for processing secondary waste of photovoltaic technology. Slovakia in line with renewable energy sources development strategy prefers the use of phot oelectric conversion in particularly in electricity supply of industrial parks. Since 2010 are being built a large-scale photovoltaic power plants in various districts of Slovakia. Factors that determine economic threshold fo r the use of materials are market share, price of raw materials, and availability of raw materials during production. Photovoltaic modules contain various highly valuable materials that can be in many cases economically exploited. Lack of material s can be a serious problem. Recycling is therefore one of the options how to limit the supply of necessary materials.
