SITE SELECTION OF WASTE STORAGE LOCATIONS WITH FUZZY LOGIC AND ANALYTIC HIERARCHY PROCESS IN A GIS FRAMEWORK, CASE STUDY: SI-SAKHT TOWN IN DENA CITY, KOHGILOUYE O BOYER AHMAD PROVINCE, IRAN
Abstract
Optimized site selections for urban facilities and services could be mentioned as one of the most important factor in urban management. In this context, several factors influence on decision making for site selection that by considering each of them, management could optimize the usage of equipments by employing the standard criteria. In this study, with regard to different criteria in selecting appropriate waste storage locations, which reaches both economic-technical and environmental considerations, and by employing Fuzzy Logic, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) coupling model, the site selection has been carried out for Si-Sakht Town in Dena City. Due to flexibility of fuzzy mathematics for modeling the real world, fuzzy logic is more suitable method for decision making compared to classical methods. In this way, first of all the important and influential factors in selecting the appropriate locations, such as land slope, bed-rock and geology, distance from surface water resources such as rivers and streams and sub-surface water sources such as wells, distance from the underground water table, agricultural fields and gardens and also distance from city have been extracted and classified. Then, by employing Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), all of mentioned base layers have been weighted. Converting all of base layers into weighted maps is the next step of presented study which has been done in a GIS Framework. By overlaying the mentioned weighted maps in order to the grant of them, Site selection has been carried out. Eventually, the appropriate waste storage locations, which satisfying environmental, economical and technical considerations, have been extracted.
