Abstract

The paper considers the problems of formation and handling of production and consumption waste, including solid municipal waste. The authors have shown that waste storage in the landfills will be the main method of disposal in the near future. It is necessary to carry out an integrated monitoring of environmental conditions in the area of landfills to minimize the negative impact on the environment. The article presents the general scheme of the life cycle of production and consumption waste landfills and analyses the main problems arising in the disposal of waste. Based on the conducted studies the authors have developed an algorithm for assessing the ecological condition of waste landfills. For the purpose of comprehensive study of waste landfills? impact on the environment, the algorithm of landfills monitoring is presented in the form of a multi-level system, based on different observations using the methods of technical indication, information technologies and bio indication.
