LATVIAN SPATIAL METADATA CATALOGUE- CONTENT AND SUMMARY FOR REFERENCED SPATIAL DATA SETS AND SERVICES
Abstract
INSPIRE directive describes how infrastructure for spatial information in European community should be developed. The directive provides standard (implementing rules) for European Union member statesпїЅ spatial data to ensure that spatial data is compatible in trans-boundary context. The directive covers 34 themes in 3 annexes, including such themes as: Agricultural and aquaculture facilities, Energy Resources, Environmental monitoring Facilities, Mineral Resources, Production and industrial facilities, Sea regions, Soil, Utility and governmental services. This directive is directly related to various fields of engineering that create and transport spatial data between systems and devices, for example, data that is collected with various GPS devices, such as car navigation systems, smart watches, etc. Directive specifies that to this date discovery metadata shall be available for spatial data sets and services; spatial data sets shall be available for discovery, view and download from INSPIRE geoportal. To ensure that the Latvian spatial metadata is available for harvesting by INSPIRE geoportal national discovery service - Latvian spatial metadata catalogue was created. This article describes the information retrieved from Latvian spatial metadata catalogue. This could be useful for various fields engineers, who need to deal with spatial data collection. They will be able to receive all the necessary technical information from one place. Article includes describing of Python 2.x scripts writing for automatic collection of statistical information, what makes possible automatically track trends over time.
