Abstract

One of the main sources of risk on slopes in the road infrastructure is the lack of sufficient technical awareness and creative competence of the specialists involved in the investment process. The impact of these sources can be minimized by implementing an appropriate risk management, prevention and protection system in slope stabilization. This system should ensure continuity of geotechnical judgment during geological survey, analysis, design and construction. Geotechnical risk should be considered as a product of the operation of the road infrastructure safety system. In this regard, it is of particular importance to adopt a systematic approach to the study of landslide and collapse risk. Accident prevention and road protection can be considered in accordance with the critical event concept. Measures aimed at reducing the probability of a decisive event are preventive. When measures are aimed at reducing the degree of consequences after a decisive event, they are protective. It is envisaged that this system will help provide clarity to ensure a focus on the assessment and management of the risk of landslides and collapses on roads. The system is also discussed in connection with damaged sections of the road infrastructure.
