RESISTANCE OF CONCRETE SURFACE AGAINST THE ACTION OF CHEMICAL DEICING SUBSTANCES

Abstract

The paper deals with the damage of the concrete surface by defreezing chemical agents. The first part of research is oriented to composition, design of concrete and test of fresh (slump test, bulk density of fresh concrete) and hardened concrete (compressive strength, bulk density of hardened concrete). The second part is oriented to test of concrete surface resistance against the effect of defreezing chemical substances. Two protective coatings were used. Tests were performed on samples without coating and on samples with coating Rust Grip and Inner Seal. These protective coatings prevent penetration of defrosting agents into concrete structures and thus prevent their corrosion and gradual disintegration. Measurement of the resistance of cement concrete surfaces against the water and chemical defrosting agents was carried out by automatic cycling. The prepared samples were successively subjected to a 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 175, 225 and 275 freezing cycles. This cycling was carried out in an automatic test device for frost resistance and surface resistance tests. The resistance of cement concrete surface against to water and chemical defrosting agents is given by the weight of waste per unit area.
