DIMENSIONING GATING SYSTEM FOR THE CASTING PRODUCED BY INVESTMENT CASTING AND ITS VERIFICATION VIA COMPUTER SIMULATION
Abstract
At present, increasingly high demands on the quality of the manufactured castings, which are used in the automotive industry. The foundry respect there are a number of advanced technologies, which are used for the casting. These include the technology of production castings by investment casting. It is used particularly where in view of the complex shape casting technology is the production of other more expensive, respectively, it is not at all possible. Such casting is the rotor of the turbocharger to be used in various pressurized combustion engines. In this technology of investment casting plays a crucial role gating system. It must provide positive directionally solidified castings, which are formed into so-called tree. Therefore, its design and calculation is very important. A helping hand to us in this respect offer CAD systems and simulation programs. CAD systems allows us to create a 3D model designed components. Using simulation programs we evaluate the processes that take place during filling and solidification in casting castings. Subsequent evaluation of such simulations can make changes to the gating system or the casting and thus reduce the cost of manufacturing already in pre-production stage. The paper deals with the dimensioning of gating system for this type of casting and computer simulation of filling and solidification.
