Abstract

After more than 40 years of production results indicated necessity to refine the geological model of Sarmatian fluvial reservoirs in an onshore oil field of Moesian Platform , Romania. A stratigraphic analysis was developed to build a new stratigraphic?structural framework. The new 3D seismic was used to incorporate structural data by mapping the system of all normal faults and the unconformity. A new image have been developed for the incised valley. Using concepts of sequence stratigraphy, 3D seismic, biostratigraphic and litologic data were used to define 8 major depositional sequences , spanning from Senonian to Meotian. In the 8 of these sequence, 3 are fluvial systems and 5 estuarin system. Erosive surfaces and regional unconformities affect the distribution of the fluvial systems. Action of erosion and faulting results in complex framework and lateral communications among reservoirs of different ages. Several oil-water contacts are present and controlled by some of the faults and the lateral communications. Modeling this complex system included many different techniques and software in steps of the work. The first step involved a topologic three?dimensional construction, including all of the major geologic information; relationships among the main reservoirs were validated by production data. Next was creating a refined grid to populate the model with rock properties, corner point geometry grid was built to honor the direction of major faults and of the incisive paleovaley. Third was facies characterization. The last step was using SGS simulation to fulfill the model. Based on petrophysic histograms from well data, classified by facies for permeability distributions have been done mathematical computation based on 4 different mathematical equations. Preliminary results from the model reveal better fitting between this new 3D geological model ( static model ) and production data.
