Abstract

The hybrid expert systems are the most effective for solution of geological problems, because their knowledge base includes not only knowledge of experts, but also the regularities received as a result of the analysis of available databases. The prediction problem was the first among the geological problems for which the expert system technology was used for solution. According to the principle of consecutive detailing the main prediction-metallogenic taksons of the researched objects are needed to consider: metallogenic zone, ore area, ore cluster, ore field and deposit. The technology of hybrid expert system design used the logic-information analysis of etalon objects for creation of making-decision rules. The procedure of logic-information analysis [1] on etalon (well-studied) deposits from database has designed for the selection of their informative features, which together can quantify the similarity measure between poor studied prospect areas and etalon deposits of studied type. In the case of positive result of the comparison it is possible to evaluate the size by analogy with designed models of small-, middle- and large-scale deposits. For example, the last version of expert system for prediction and prospecting of Epithermal Gold-Silver Deposit (Okhotsk-Chuckchee Volcanic Belt, Northeast Russia) ([5], the first version of it was appeared in 1999] is considered. This version includes some etalon objects from Russian part of Arctic zone. So it is possible to use this expert system for the study and evaluation of ore deposits in similar ore-bearing provinces including the Russian Arctic zone.
