WATER REGIME AND DATA CORRELATION OF WHITE DRIN RIVER
Abstract
The biggest river in the Kosovo area is White Drin. Last 60-ty years, in Kosovo, three state power has been changed, therefore we have observation of hydro-meteorological data, of three stages. Those data are not complete. There are two serious water resources master plans, of year 1983 and of 2008, but both have used data of period 1952-1986. The idea of this article, is to complete, calibrate and to validate existing data, of daily average flows, until today, in order to study water regime of White Drin river, flood and drought frequency, and to check impact of decreasing snow precipitation on flows. White Drin river, have special geographical, meteorological and hydrological conditions, its water regime is unique in the region, and for some period time is not possible to obtain data by correlation. For existing data and for data which can be obtain from other gauging station of the same river, by correlation it is possible to estimate flood, drought frequency and average flows. For years without data, correlation with similar regional river, would give proper quantitative results (85%) for average flows, usable for water balance estimation, but bad qualitative results for extreme flows (flood and drought frequency).
