Abstract

This article describes experimental measurement and evaluation of the thermal-technical properties of historical masonry of the perimeter wall. It focuses on the principles of the measurement process itself as well as the evaluation of the obtained data. The measurement took place on a historic building, today used as an office building, located in the city of Ostrava, in the Czech Republic. In a selected room, used as an office, the measuring equipment was applied to the perimeter wall and ensured long-term measurement of its properties during the winter period of 2020. The thermal-technical parameters of the perimeter wall thus were collected and their impact on the office's indoor environment, which were influenced by the prevailing outdoor climatic conditions. Specifically, were measured the internal surface temperatures of the perimeter wall in its area and its critical places, external surface temperatures of the wall, external and internal air temperatures, and relative humidity in an office. The article also describes the principles according to which the measuring device was calibrated and installed. It is a summary of the principles and steps that should always be followed in any experimental measurement. They ensure that the measured values are correct and environmental influences do not distort the results. Afterward, the obtained data from the experimental measurement are presented in the article. From the obtained results, it is possible to evaluate, for example, the quality and suitability of the indoor environment for persons working in this historic building. The article is a summary or instruction on how to obtain the data needed, for example, for the subsequent design of suitable thermal insulation measures of a perimeter wall for a specific historic building.
