Abstract

Agroforestry and agrovoltaics are emerging as key strategies for sustainable land use, combining economic, environmental and social benefits. The integration of digital technologies, AI and blockchain-based solutions increases the transparency, efficiency and scalability of agroforestry projects. Ukraine, with its strong agricultural sector, faces challenges related to climate change, resource depletion and war-induced environmental damage. The study is based on a comprehensive analysis of scientific literature, statistical data, international and European policy documents, as well as reports from financial institutions, government agencies and research centers. Its main objectives of the study: demonstrate the importance of digitization and the concurrent development of agrivoltaics and agroforestry in Ukraine; examine international experience in the digitalization and assess the feasibility of adopting these technologies in Ukraine; identify opportunities for institutional and financial support that can foster the digital advancement of agroforestry and agrivoltaics in Ukraine. The study offers a holistic view of how digital transformation can support sustainable land-use systems, particularly in the context of Ukraine-s post-war recovery. Unlike previous research that focused mainly on agronomic or environmental outcomes, this work highlights the intersection of digital innovations, financial instruments, institutional and strategic development. This integrated perspective enables a comprehensive approach to advancing agroforestry and agrivoltaics. The research also enriches the current scientific discourse by emphasising the strategic importance of agrivoltaics not only for sustainable agriculture but also for decentralised renewable-energy production. By leveraging cutting-edge digital technologies and AI, Ukraine can further enhance its competitive advantages as one of the world-s largest agricultural producers.
