Abstract

The paper presents a calculation of an annual balance between the water inflow and discharge in the Cheboksary hydrosystem reservoir. The calculation is implemented in MathCad. The calculation is based on the principle of identifying the main areas of water use and water consumption, including hydroenegetics, water transport, drinking and industrial water supply, fishery, and recreation. Characteristics of water inflow and discharge by the Cheboksary hydrosystem are calculated. A positive annual balance of the water inflow and discharge is obtained. Based on the data on changes in the depths and levels of the reservoir, bathigraphic and volumetric curves are constructed, including: dependence of the reservoir surface area on its depth; dependence of the reservoir surface area on the elevation mark; dependence of the reservoir capacity on the elevation mark; dependence of the average depth on the elevation mark; dependence of the elevation mark on the average depth; dependence of the littoral criterion on the elevation mark. The paper calculates the inactive storage capacity of the reservoir required by the sanitary and technical standards to ensure the necessary water quality. The calculated inactive storage capacity is checked for the siltation and the duration of operation. Functional capabilities of computation components of the MathCad environment are used to make the water balance, and graphical functions of the environment are used to output the calculation results.
