QUANTITATIVE MULTICRITERIAL EVALUATION OF PUBLIC SPACE
Abstract
At present, there is no uniform method that would use quantitative factors to evaluate the quality of public spaces. Most analyses are subject to the subjective opinion of the processor and cannot be applied to different territories. The work is devoted to the analysis of the quality of public spaces by creating a multicriteria evaluation taking into account transport, safety, environmental, economic and social impacts. Using multicriteria evaluation methods using purely quantitative data, it is possible to create a model that will be applicable to different territories. A method of multicriteria evaluation of weighted linear combination (Weighted Linear Combination - WLC) was chosen, in which continuous criteria (factors) are used, which are normalized to the common numerical range and then combined using weighted averages. The weak value of one criterion can be balanced by several high-quality criteria. Values between 0 – 150 were assigned to individual characters. Linear standardization was used in the process to determine some values. The value of the weights of the factors for the individual criteria was determined using the pairwise comparison method, the so-called Fuller's method. Fuller's method is one of the methods of pairwise comparison of criteria, where information is used which of the two criteria is more important in pairwise comparison. The evaluator gradually compares each of the two criteria and chooses the more important one. If each of the two criteria out of the total number of k criteria is compared, combinations of the two elements from k are selected. In this way, one entire street in the city of Bratislava was subsequently assessed.
