Abstract

This article discusses typical problem of industrial floors, i.e. cracks. Slight cracks are usually effect of volume changes such as shrinkage and creep. There are also other reasons why cracks appear. For example: inappropriate design, heavier load than expected or wrong realization of the concrete slab. Cracks, which are caused by mentioned reasons, are wider and deeper. Wide and deep cracks can cause another defects such as concrete crumbling along the crack. They can be a problem for maintenance and service life of the floor. Owners and occupants of the buildings do not want to see any cracks and they often require a correction or a compensation from constructors. In this paper, the occurrence of the cracks in the storage hall was analyzed. Analyzed cracks were through the entire thickness of the concrete slab. They were wide and deep so they could not be caused by volume changes. The position of the cracks and provided documentation suggested that the problem will be caused by wrong design or realization. The stress analysis of three-dimensional model has been done in software Ansys 17.2. The model of the concrete slab has interacted with all layers according to the investigation of actual floor construction.
