MULTIMODAL NODES IN THE SYSTEM OF INTEGRATED PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Abstract
Transport is part of our lives. We live in an accelerated time and this also affects our transport demands. We need to move from one place to another faster. People often use own cars to move faster. The individual automobile transport has advantages. I tis flexible, fast and comfortable. But the automobile transport disadvantages. Many cars cause traffic jams, have a negative impact on the environment and the public roads are load. Individual car transport competes with public transport. In our country the public transport has been neglected in recent years. This is also one of reasons why people more often prefer their own cars. Even though the degree of motorization is increasing in our country, we are among a lot of countries where many people still use public transport. To sustain this trend, we need to be engaged in the idea of how to improve the public transport and make it more attractive. This is important for a passenger to transfer as little as possible and get to the destination in one connection. But not every passenger can be meet with this request. It is not efficient or good to set up many lines "everywhere". Too many lines make transportation economically expensive for a city, region, or state. It is more advantageous to introduce lesser lines, but with qualitative transfer nodes and terminals. This method will ensure transport "everywhere". Transfers between lines or between different modes of transport should be as short as possible. Transit nodes and terminals must also ensure comfort for the travelling public. Commercial services and other business places such as cafes, restaurants, etc. are also important. Transfer nodes can contribute to the integration of several transport modes such as train traffic, bus traffic, bicycle traffic and car traffic. By integrated transport system we mean a complex, organized transport system. Cooperation with individual car transport and bicycle transport will be ensured by building catchment car parking?s and bicycle storage areas near the transfer terminals.
