Abstract

The choice of biotesting methods in determining the toxicity of water is determined by the requirement for their high sensitivity and expressivity. In this regard, fluorescence methods are particularly attractive. The purpose of this work is to compare the sensitivity of fluorescent biotesting methods in determining the toxicity of waters containing petroleum products, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, pesticides. We studied the toxic effect of petroleum and diesel fuel, polyaromatic naphthalene hydrocarbon, pesticides ? «Desagard» and «Kolosal». Biotesting methods based on the change in the intensity of the bioluminescence of the marine luminous bacteria Photobacterium phosphoreum (Beijrinck) and the preparation "Ekolyum" fluorescent bacteria and on the change in the chlorophyll fluorescence level of the green algae Scenedesmus quadricauda (G.M.Smith) were used for the study. Along with these methods of biotesting, the widely used biotest for survival of Daphnia magna (Sars) was used. It was shown that for different methods of biotesting the acute toxicity of the same substance differed significantly. In the study of the toxic effects of naphthalene, the change in the fluorescence of chlorophyll in algae is more sensitive than the bioluminescent tests tenfold. Constructed sensitivity series of biotesting methods in relation to the studied substances. The most sensitive method for all compounds used is the method based on changing the level of chlorophyll fluorescence of algae cells, and the most express method is bioluminescent.
