DESIGN OF AN AUTOMATIC SORTING SYSTEM USING A ROBOTIC ARM
Abstract
The paper presents an automatic sorting process of different color pieces. This paper is the result of a multidisciplinary depth study focused on industrial automation field more specifically on robotics, informatics, or control of the flexible manufacturing systems. The hardware and software system is formed by a robotic arm, a color sensor, sensors, a conveyor, a system of outlet cubes and a storage system, a transporting system for the robotic arm. The goal of this paper is to remove cubes from the deposit use the aid of the robotic arm and moved it on the conveyor, then the cubes is verified by the color sensor and then when the pieces are at the end of the conveyor is taken by robotic arm and sorted by the color. As applied motivation it follows to accomplish a platform that will provide students, researchers, engineers the opportunity to pursue operational control system and a realtime monitoring of an industrial process for sorting of different objects, the system being served by a robotic arm. In this paper one includes knowledge of mechanical, electrical and informatics knowledge (Machines and Electric Drive, Sensors and Transducers, Structure and flexible system design, Electronic devices and circuits) and, obviously, this work aims to automate a system for sorting pieces by their color without external human intervention. In achieving of the experimental model one try to apply different knowledge of automation for an industrial process at a laboratory platform for studying events related to the control and monitoring of a flexible color sorting lines.
